Book Review: Break Free by Don Soriano

7:04 PM

I know it took me awhile on this. It's been sitting in my draft like F-O-R-E-V-E-R!

I'm actually not a bookworm but I enjoyed reading this book. Thank goodness that my last weekend freed. We were at my in-laws in Binangonan. Away from work and everything that makes me occupied.  This book was always with me so that if ever there is time, I could read this. So God has given me a lot of time last weekend. Although there are some unforeseen circumstances, but everything is alright now. To give you a hint, my Father-in-law fainted exactly when we arrived at their house last Friday night. Good thing we really decided to go home at my in-laws 'coz if these things happened without us, probably my Mother-in-law would panic and don't know what to do. But as I've said earlier, everything is alright now. They are still in hospital but ready to go home anytime now.

Anyhoo, let's go back to the main topic, shall we? :)

I must say that I'm an Entrepreneur but I am actually not a professional. I started doing business way back year 2014. I started out by franchising a food cart. It was fun at first. Fun because it has a rotating income. But in a few months, I failed. I was so shocked about our Electricity Bill. I was forced to pull out some devices like our refrigerator which is very important. Our Food cart is 5mins away from our home so there will be no problem. But our sales affected by the situation. Soon enough, I am forced to give up our food cart and decided to pull it out on that place.

Because of that, I learned a lot of things. I don't have mentors at that time but I don't regret it. But it would be much better if there is. No one taught me about doing business. Everything was just me.

Don Soriano was right.

"The experience of others is a better teacher than our own experiences. It's cheaper and easier to come by."

I spent a hundred thousand pesos not knowing I will lose the game.

So in this book, he shares his experience from bankrupt with 500,000 debt to a business owner and financially free in less than 3 years. It seems impossible. Yeah! I think that so too. But with hard work (I don't know if that's the right term), everything will be possible. As he has mentioned in the book, "If you're willing to do what's easy, Life will be hard. But if you're  willing to do what's hard, life will be easy." Sacrifice today and your life will be easy when time comes by.

This book is not just about the business, it teaches you on how to handle your own money wisely to become financially free.

"Parkinson's Law States that expenses states always rise to meet income."

I recommend this book to anyone and learn the 8 principles to get from employee to employer in 3 years or less.
